Integration of Geospatial Datasets with No-Fly Zone Regulations in Sri Lanka

Abstract

The integration of geospatial datasets with aviation safety regulations has become increasingly critical for modern airspace management, particularly in developing nations such as Sri Lanka. This review examines the current state of geospatial datasets available for Sri Lanka and their role in implementing and managing no-fly zone regulations. It analyzes the regulatory framework established by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), the technological infrastructure supporting geospatial data collection and management, and the challenges encountered in deploying effective no-fly zone monitoring systems. The findings reveal significant gaps in data standardization, interoperability issues among geospatial platforms, and the need for enhanced real time monitoring capabilities. This review synthesizes existing research, identifies key technological and regulatory challenges, and proposes recommendations to improve the integration of geospatial datasets with aviation safety protocols within Sri Lanka’s unique geographic and political context.
