Abstract
This comprehensive study examines Sri Lanka's strategic approach to airport protection, focusing on the collaboration between civil and military authorities to enhance national security. Airports are critical national assets vulnerable to various threats, including terrorism, smuggling, and geopolitical tensions. Sri Lanka's unique geopolitical position in the Indian Ocean region underscores the significance of robust airport security measures. The study reviews the historical context and evolution of airport security policies in Sri Lanka, highlighting key milestones and challenges faced. It analyses the roles and responsibilities of civil aviation authorities, military forces, and law enforcement agencies in safeguarding airports against emerging threats.
