This research paper investigates the application of Lean Six Sigma in the Sri Lankan
construction industry. The study aims to recognize the barriers in implementing Lean
Six Sigma and to propose strategies for its successful implementation. There are several
barriers in the implementation of Lean Six Sigma, including a deficiency of understand ing, resistance to change, lack of skills and resources, complex project environments,
cultural aspects, and insufficient data management. A literature review and interviews
with industry professionals are a part of the methodology, which is followed by a content
analysis. The sample was selected by using the purposive sampling technique covering
construction professionals such as Engineers, Architects, Quantity surveyors, Project
Managers, and Executives in the construction sector. Overall, the paper provides a
thorough overview of Lean Six Sigma, its potential benefits in the Sri Lankan construction
sector, and the implementation challenges. It provides stakeholders with actionable
recommendations to improve project performance and contribute to long-term economic
growth in the Sri Lankan Construction Industry.
