ISRAEL-PALESTINE CONFLICT: PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE

Abstract

The 2023 October 07th attack that killed more than 1200 persons and the abduction of approximately 250 hostages by Hamas from Israel marked a new phrase in the Israel-Palestine conflict. As of 18th December 2024, Israeli counteraction has killed more than 45,000 Palestinians has created a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza (United Nations, 2024). Further, the conflict has dragged regional powers like Iran and global superpower United States with a militaristic intervention leading to a complex situation in the region. Israel-Palestine conflict also popularly known as the Middle East conflict is one of the longest running conflicts in the post-Second World War international politics. However, this part of the world was in conflict for thousands of years fueled by ethno-religious differences that laid the historical background of the conflict that goes beyond the pivotal point of creating the state of Israel in 1948. The study is a qualitative desk research based on secondary sources. This study represents a narrative approach that explores historical background of the Israel-Palestine conflict which provides an opportunity to analyse the current and future trends of the conflict.
