dc.description.abstract | Resilience has emerged as a critical objective for people, communities, and societies
all over the world in the face of escalating global challenges. In the face of several
domestic and foreign challenges, Sri Lanka is slowly recovering from the severe economic
crisis. Achieving sustainable development for the sectors that were the root cause of this
crisis is still a fundamental challenge facing Sri Lanka. In the current Debt restructuring
process, Central Bank of Sri Lanka has proposed three sectoral reforms to ful ll local debt
restructuring. In that, improving the revenue mechanism, rationalizing the expenses, and
nding a new revenue sector has been fundamental. In relation to the cost rationalization
aspect here, the study revealed that Sri Lanka is largely channeling nancial resources
to meet its energy needs. Considering the current global trends, several committed
responsibilities of Sri Lanka cannot be ignored. Sri Lankaâ˘AZ´ s commitment to achieve
2030 Sustainable Development Goals, as a country directly in uenced to climate change
and its developing country status compelled Sri Lanka to introduced reforms to the energy
sector. Accordingly, this research used qualitative research methods to study the necessity
of reforming energy sector to while securing its energy security as primary national
interest of the country. The research has done extensive study on the concept of energy
security through the lens of International Relations, the assessment of energy status of
Sri Lanka, the importance of providing transforming from non- renewable to renewable
energy resources in without compromising the energy security of the country. The
research concluded with identifying that Societies could actively respond to crises, adapt
to changing conditions, and create a resilient future by adopting sustainable practices,
and driving sectoral transformations. | en_US |
