Electronic Knowledge Repository (EKR) is a type of Knowledge Management Systems which is widely used for the knowledge management activities in software organizations. It should be effective enough for the success of the software project and for the continuous use of it. However, it was poorly examined what factors affect to EKR use and how it affects to software project success in Sri Lankan software development organizations. The main objective of this research was to find out how codification effort, task interdependence and perceived task-technology fit affect to EKR use for software development activities and how EKR use affect to software project success in term of team performance and team members success. An empirical study was conducted in the Sri Lankan software development organizations to test the validity of the conceptual model. The results show that even though codification effort has no significant relationship with EKR use and task interdependence, perceived task-technology fit has a significant positive relationship with it. EKR use has a significant positive relationship with team performance and team member success. The findings provide suggestions for Sri Lankan software development organizations for designing and implementing EKR in order to support organizational goals in term of software project success.en_US
